Prambanan
Theater on the next site of the world heritage archeological park
of Prambanan temple is one of the world class arts centers, officially
opened on 1990. This architectural icon with its distinctive Prambanan
view is sited within Yogyakarta’s civic district, just about
15-30 minutes of down townYogyakarta. Prambanan Theatre aims to
be a performing arts centre for everyone, and its programmes cater
to its diverse audiences. Ramayana Ballet and its programmed line-up
span all genres to encompass music, dance, theatre and visual
arts, with a special emphasis on Asian culture.
Prambanan Theater houses world-class performance spaces, supported
by a comprehensive range of professional support facilities and
services. Its two main venues are the 1000-seat open space concert
hall (Ramayana) and about 360-seat closed theater (Trimurti),
designed with the best acoustics in mind, it hosts a diverse range
of music performances, equipped with highly adaptable staging,
lighting and sound systems, and it is able to accommodate different
staging demand.

Ramayana
Ballet at present time being the most popular performance in Yogyakarta.
It is held at an outdoor theater (episodic and full story) and
Trimurti indoor theater (full story) in Prambanan, 16 km east
of Yogyakarta, with the magnificent Prambanan Temple as a scenic
background. Ramayana Ballet presents the finest dancers from the
region.
The entire Ramayana epic consists of four episodes and full story,
each night one episode, presented from 0730 pm to 0930 p.m. in
four clear nights on and around the full moon, each month from
May through October. The full story is held at Trimurti Theater
every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday; presented by more than
50 professional dancers. The large outdoor amphitheater, more
than 250 assorted dancers and gamelan musicians, four clear tropical
nights on the full moon, a thousand-year-old temple of inspiring
beauty as part of the scenery; Ramayana, the story of gods, mortals,
giants, monkeys and beautiful women based on the epic of Hindu
found in the relief’s of Prambanan Temple, are the reasons
for its popularity, reputation and appeal with every performance.
